HMDA compliance is not simply about getting the annual submission out the door. Accurate HMDA reporting starts with the information collected at application and continues through underwriting, processing, closing, quality control, reporting, and ongoing monitoring.

This practical live webinar provides an updated look at HMDA compliance for 2026, with a focus on the areas that create the greatest operational and compliance risk. Participants will review current Regulation C requirements, data collection and reporting responsibilities, common data accuracy problems, transaction testing, correction and remediation, and what HMDA data can reveal about an institution's lending activity and fair lending risk.

The program will also look ahead to the 2027 reporting cycle so participants can identify opportunities to strengthen HMDA processes before year-end.

What You'll Learn

  • Get Current on HMDA Requirements
Review the current Regulation C requirements and key HMDA reporting considerations that apply to today's lending environment.
  • Strengthen Data Accuracy From Application Through Reporting
Identify where HMDA errors originate and explore practical controls for improving data collection, validation, documentation, and reporting.
  • Know What Examiners Are Looking For
Understand how HMDA compliance may be evaluated through transaction testing, data integrity reviews, policies and procedures, training, monitoring, and management oversight.
  • Identify Your HMDA Trouble Spots
Work through common HMDA reporting challenges and identify weaknesses that can lead to inaccurate data, repeat errors, examination findings, or costly remediation.
  • Understand HMDA Error Tolerances and Resubmission Risk
Review the regulatory framework surrounding HMDA data accuracy, error identification, corrections, and potential resubmission.
  • Build a More Effective Testing and Monitoring Program
Learn how to move beyond basic data scrubs and develop testing and monitoring that can identify root causes—not simply individual reporting errors.
  • Connect HMDA to Fair Lending Risk
Explore what your HMDA data can—and cannot—tell you about lending patterns, application activity, underwriting outcomes, pricing, and potential fair lending concerns.
  • Turn HMDA Data Into a Compliance Resource
Consider how compliance, lending, and management teams can use HMDA data to identify trends, ask better questions, and strengthen the overall lending compliance program.
  • Prepare for the Next Reporting Cycle
Identify practical steps to take before year-end to strengthen HMDA processes, address recurring issues, and prepare for the 2027 reporting cycle.
